Don't believe me then and put your money in stocks or whatever.
I have a degree in economics and 8 years of experience in trading. Not that it really matters.
What matters is to understand the mechanics on how fiat money not backed by anything works. Once you fully understand, it's easy to conclude that the whole system is doomed to fail completely at some point.
The creators, a small group of very powerful people, knew this very well.
Watch the Amero replace the American & Canadian dollar and the Peso in a couple of years.

Ever heard about short selling? You can make money as long as the stock price moves. All depends on how you play the market, but my advice was meant for investors who buy and hope to sell at a higher price (mid-long term), which is the most common way of investing in stock markets.
Actually I didn't come back to continue to discuss the matter. The tone is quite clear. Don't believe me, I really don't care.

Because you imply that I'm full of it and you do so due to a lack of knowledge on the matter. Why continue a discussion if you don't believe me anyway?

Do you make that assumption of anyone that has views that don't conform to your own?
I simply said that I didn't agree that investing in the stock market should be likened to gambling. There are plenty of resources online that I could point to that would agree with that statement. Similarly, you could no doubt point to other resources that take a contrary view.
I'm sorry you don't take kindly to people not agreeing with everything you have to say. That's just life, I'm afraid.

You did not only disagree with the gambling-statement, you disagreed with everything and you didn't like the reason I gave for it.
I'm not used to prove a point with other people's opinion. I prefer to form my own conclusions based on a little knowledge and a little experience. Thank you.
Come back when YOU have half as much knowledge as I do about the subject and we might have a decent debate. You will not wonder why gold is shy under $1000 today. It will make sense. (PS: Uneducated people laughed at me not too long ago when I said it would reach $1,000.)
A good start would be that long video, but as usual apathy or disbelief and consequently the refusal to watch it will take over.

I believe everyone is entitled to their view, and should be able to express it. I respect your outlook but am not obliged to agree with it. What I don't have time for is you accusing me of mocking you when, quite frankly, I haven't - subtley or otherwise.

5 years is nowhere near long enough for any kind of confidence in return on stocks in general. It is my position that money you put into equities should be money that you don't need to touch for decades (at least one decade, two min is far better).
Again, that is generalizing. Dividend paying stocks obviously can offer meaningful returns via their dividends regardless of the fluctuation in share price.
