One of my credit card companies prints statements on both sides of a piece of paper.

When I get it, my transactions usually cover both sides, and don't run to another sheet. On the first side, they actually but the sub-total in bold, and it's not very obvious that this isn't actually the total and that there's more on the reverse.

Therefore... I reckon that they must get a lot of people paying the amount that they see there, not realising that it's not the full amount.

Don't you think this is a bit of a nasty trick?

I wouldn't say it is a nasty trick, its just marketing and trying to hide the truth, without actually hiding it.

Since its not illegal then its ok but it is kinda bad and immoral for the credit card company.

Its sort of like on cadbury's chocolate.

On the back it says contains 5% of daily fat, 3% of daily sugar etc. If you then fold up the flap they used to seel it with you see that its per chunk, not the bar.

I still think it's pretty underhand. I mean, if someone pays what they think the balance is (the total shown on the front page), then they'll end up having to pay a load in interest the following month. In fact, many months might elapse before they realise there is anything on the reverse, and that could easily amount to £100s.

Paper statements! Why? E banking is so much easier and may save a few twigs.

There's certain things where I like to have a print-out. Financial statements is one of them.

Agreed!

Though I have to agree with printing on both sides of paper if they are sending you a paper bill.

I don't have a problem with printing on both sides of the paper. What I do have a problem is with them trying to make it look like there's only one side to the page. They try to trick people into paying the balance on the front sheet if they normally pay in full...

Is there no way of setting up a DD to clear the monthly fee? You can still check your statement and get any questionable transactions reversed.

DD = direct debit.

And yeah, I believe you can... this is how I do it with most cards.
