I think it is different companies and differnet programs. For example, the Air Miles program in the USA is different from the one in Canada.

I still don't really get your point. An air mile is an air mile, surely, wherever in the world you are.

I'm pretty sure I get a mile for every $1. I don't care for most loyalty schemes - but for some reason with flights, it's different. I'm a big fan!
