Howdy Smile

Can never learn enough about money, right!? I have been investing for about 20 years now, surely the result of making sure I didn't suck with money like my parents did. I am the one who helps family and friends with everything from 401Ks to buying individual bonds in their 900K income portfolio that I manage for them. I'm big on the sound principles of long-term investing and avoiding market guessing ... but instead, focusing on asset diversification and low cost ways of achieving the exposure you want based upon time frame and goal.

My big irk was the dirty secret of the mutual fund industry - how they didn't even perform as well as the monkey index that basically covered their fund type anyway. FINALLY 401Ks started taking on index funds.

Enough for now - thanks for having me!

Great post and welcome to the site.

I am from Canada so the terms that you will be using on the site will be slightly different, but the great thing about fundamentals are that they are the fundamental, the same across the board.

If more people KNEW how money worked, and it is not hard, then there would be a lot less of the shit happening right now.

Oh HELL yes you are right. I am constantly asked by people, my peers, 40-50 years old, to help them with their 401K. They have no idea what they are doing. They have been putting money away for many years, relatively oblivious.

Also, people are just not investors. They are raised to be spenders, not be their own boss with an investor mentality. Don't get me started ... Smile

Thanks for the welcome.

I have issues with giving people advice. I know what I should be doing but when people who are in different age groups or circs ask me what I do I have a hard time telling them that what they should be doing is not what I am doing...
