Bill Gates has gone on record as saying that it wasn't what Microsoft did, but what his rivals didn't do that let Microsoft get ahead.

| I can see some truth in that. Over the years Microsoft has really gone out on a limb with their research and development. Despite not having warm and fuzzy feelings for Microsoft I think as a business they have pushed the industry forward and should not be punished for bringing the entire industry along for the ride. |
